IT'S AN EXCITING TIME OF YEAR, AN EXCITING SEASON AS STUDENTS ARE REGISTERING, BANDS ARE REHEARSING, PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS ARE PREPARING, AND THIS BOARD IS LEADING.

I'M REMINDED OF THE GREAT OLD TESTAMENT LEADERS LIKE MOSES AND JOSHUA.

MOSES AS HE LED THE HEBREW PEOPLE ACROSS THE RED SEA ON DRY LAND.

MOSES AS HE LED THAT SAME GROUP INTO THE PROMISED LAND.

AND THEY FACE NEW CHALLENGES, OBSTACLES THAT MAYBE THEY HAD NEVER FACED BEFORE.

AND THAT MIGHT BE WHERE THIS BOARD OR TEACHERS OR ADMINISTRATORS IN NEW POSITIONS FIND THEMSELVES.

THIS MORNING IS NEW CHALLENGES AND NEW OBSTACLES.

FOR THE LAST SIX YEARS, I'VE PROUDLY SERVED AS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT CENTENNIAL, A CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY I HOLD CLOSE TO MY HEART.

CENTENNIAL IS A PLACE I LOVE DEARLY. IT'S A SPECIAL PLACE FULL OF DEDICATED EDUCATORS, SUPPORTIVE FAMILIES, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, INSPIRING STUDENTS THAT MOTIVATE ME DAILY.

BUT THIS DOES HAVE SOME CHANGES THAT ARE PRETTY SIGNIFICANT WITH REGARD TO DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS THAT WE CAN TAKE IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS.

DOES THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CELL PHONE POLICY, OR IS THIS A DIFFERENT.

IT HAS LANGUAGE AROUND THE CELL PHONE POLICY THAT IS INCLUDED, BUT THAT MATCHES WHAT WE ALREADY SHARED WITH YOU AND ALREADY SHARED WITH PARENTS.

SO THIS IS PART. IT IS. THAT IS ONE PART. OKAY.

BUT THERE ARE OTHER PARTS THAT ARE CONNECTED TO HOUSE BILL 6.

THAT WAS PART OF THE DISCIPLINE BILL THAT GIVES SOME GREATER LEEWAY AND LATITUDE TO ADMINISTRATORS AND TO TEACHERS.

SO ADDITIONAL THINGS IN THEIR TOOLBOX THAT MAKE SOME CHANGES FROM WHAT WE'VE DONE IN DISCIPLINE IN THE PAST.

AND WE ALREADY COMMUNICATED ALL THIS OUT TO OUR PARENTS, FAMILIES AND WHATNOT.

IT WOULD BE IN THE STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT THAT ONCE YOU APPROVE, THEN IT BECOMES PUBLIC AND THEN THAT GOES OUT TO FAMILIES.

OKAY. BECAUSE THE MODEL. BECAUSE HOUSE BILL 6 WAS JUST PASSED AND THE MODEL HAS JUST COME OUT.

AND THEN WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED A NEW STEP IN OUR PROCESS, WHICH WE'RE CALLING THE COMMUNITY INTERVIEW.

AND THAT COMMUNITY INTERVIEW IS COMPRISED OF TEACHERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND NEITHER MYSELF OR JACK.

AND SO WE DO A PRESCREENING INTERVIEW WITH EACH OF OUR CANDIDATES THAT HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE GOING TO BE A GOOD FIT FOR THAT CAMPUS.

THE THREE OF US THE PRINCIPAL, THE NEW PRINCIPAL, THE MENTOR PRINCIPAL AND THE EPP TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND GIVE ANY FEEDBACK THAT WOULD BE REQUIRED AFTER THAT. AND OUR LAST PIECE ON THE NEXT SLIDE IS THE 10% ON THE JOB LEARNING, OR THE 10% CLASSROOM LEARNING.

AND AGAIN, WE'RE WORKING WITH ALL OF OUR CENTRAL OFFICE DEPARTMENTS, AND WE'VE ALSO INCLUDED OUR SECOND YEAR PRINCIPALS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS LAST YEAR. LAST YEAR FOR MOVED INTO A PRINCIPAL ROLE, TWO MOVED INTO NEW CAMPUSES AND NEW ROLES, AND THEN FOUR OF THEM ARE CONTINUING TO GROW AT THEIR CURRENT CAMPUS, AND WE ARE BRINGING THEM IN TO GIVE THEM SOME CONTINUED LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES OUTSIDE OF THEIR NORMAL DUTIES, HAVING THEM CO-LEAD OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PLCS, AND ALSO PARTICIPATING IN A RESIDENCY PROGRAM WHERE THEY CAN GO AND POTENTIALLY LEAD IN DIFFERENT PLACES AND SEE SOME DIFFERENT, HAVE SOME DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES BESIDES JUST THEIR CURRENT CAMPUS.

SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO CONTINUE TO GROW THEM EVEN THOUGH THEIR COHORT IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETED.

AND THEN WE ARE LAUNCHING COHORT TWO. WE HAVE OUR FIRST OFFICIAL MEETING THIS COMING MONDAY, AND WE WILL HAVE EIGHT ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS PARTICIPATING.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THIS? WHERE ARE WE SUPER SUCCESSFUL AND WHERE DO WE NEED TO GROW AND DEVELOP? AND THE HOPE OF USING THIS MODEL IS THAT BY COMING OUT OF THIS MEETING MONTHLY FACE TO FACE AND ALLOWING THESE POTENTIAL CANDIDATES TO DEVELOP ON THEIR CAMPUS AND TO CREATE GOALS FOR THEMSELVES THAT WILL STRETCH THEMSELVES, BUT ALSO ALIGN WITH THE GOALS OF THE BUILDING PRINCIPAL AND THE SCHOOL ITSELF. AND THE CULMINATION OF THAT IS THEY WILL PRESENT A CAPSTONE PROJECT, ACTUALLY TO CABINET TO TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY WORKED ON, WHAT THEIR PROBLEM OF PRACTICE WAS OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR.

THAT REALLY GETS THEM TO THINK AT THE PRINCIPAL LEVEL, NOT JUST WHAT THEY'RE CURRENTLY DOING AS AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, BUT TRY TO SIMULATE WHAT IT WILL BE LIKE TO WORK AS A PRINCIPAL.

SO THEY WILL PRESENT THOSE PRESENTATIONS TO US IN THE SPRING.

AND THEN THE OTHER PIECE THAT WE ARE GOING TO LAUNCH THIS YEAR IS CALLED THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALSHIP.

AND THIS PROGRAM WILL BE OPEN TO ALL TEACHERS, ALL STAFF MEMBERS THAT ARE INTERESTED JUST TO HEAR ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A LEADER AT THE NEXT LEVEL, WHETHER THAT IS MOVING INTO ONE OF THE 50/50 ROLES THAT YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT IN JUST A MOMENT, OR MOVING INTO THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALSHIP. AND WE'LL HAVE FIVE SESSIONS THAT WILL OFFER OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR JUST ABOUT WHAT IS THE AP ROLE? TIME MANAGEMENT. AND ROBIN FULBRIGHT, MISTY, RICK AND I HAVE ALL LED THIS WORK OVER THE LAST YEAR, WHERE WE'VE MET MONTHLY WITH OUR COHORT ONE, YOU CAN SEE THOSE SIX CAMPUSES LISTED BEING MILLER, ATKINS, CAVAZOS, CORONADO, AND MONTEREY.

WE MET WITH THE PRINCIPALS OVER THE LAST YEAR AND REALLY BEGAN DEVELOPING WHAT THEIR MODEL COULD LOOK LIKE, BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT ON EACH CAMPUS.

SO THIS SUMMER, WE GOT TO DO THE BEST OF THE WORK, AND THAT IS TO BEGIN WORKING WITH THOSE 16 50/50 TEACHERS.

THEY CAME IN THIS SUMMER, IN JUNE, AND MET WITH ROBIN AND I AND OUR HOLDSWORTH PARTNERS, AND REALLY BEGAN DIGGING INTO JUST THINKING OF THEMSELVES AS A LEADER. UNDERSTANDING KIND OF THE SHIFT THAT THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE IN TERMS OF THEIR TIME, THEIR SKILL APPLICATION AND THEIR PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY MOVING INTO THIS NEW ROLE.

SO WE SPENT THREE DAYS. THE FIRST DAY WAS SELF.

THE SECOND DAY WAS REALLY ABOUT HOW DO YOU WORK WITH OTHERS AND LEAD OTHERS.

AND THEN THE THIRD DAY WAS FOCUSED ON TEAMS BECAUSE OF COURSE, THEY'LL BE WORKING WITH TEAMS OF TEACHERS THAT THEY'RE GOING TO BE COACHING ON THE CAMPUS.

THEN IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, WE WILL HAVE DAY FOUR AND DAY FIVE OF THE TRAINING WITH THESE LEAD TEACHER LEADERS.

AND IT'S GOING TO BE FOCUSED MORE ON THE PRACTICAL SKILLS OF WHAT THEIR SCHEDULE IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE, WHAT TOOLS ARE THEY GOING TO USE TO KEEP UP WITH COACHING THE DIFFERENT TEACHERS ON THEIR CAMPUS, HOW WILL THEY WORK WITH THEIR ADMINISTRATORS AND THEIR LEADERSHIP TEAMS. SO BETWEEN THE PRINCIPAL AND THE PLUS ONE, THEY DEVELOP A PROBLEM OF PRACTICE ON THEIR CAMPUS THAT THEY KNOW THAT THEY NEED TO WORK ON OVER THE COURSE OF THE TWO YEARS. AND YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS IS OUR 4.1 COHORT ON YOUR SLIDE THAT THAT PROCESS FROM YEAR ONE TO YEAR TWO. SO THEY START WITH THE PROBLEM STATEMENT.

THEY GO THROUGH ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS, AND THEY LOOK AT IDEAS THAT ARE GOING TO DRIVE CHANGE ON THEIR CAMPUS.

AND THEN THEY GO THROUGH A PROCESS OF PLANNING AND ACTING AND DOING AND GOING THROUGH THAT CYCLE OF ENSURING THAT THAT PROBLEM OF PRACTICE BECOMES SOMETHING THAT IS SOLVABLE AND ACTIONABLE THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE TIME, THEY FINALIZE THEIR GOAL, THEY RUN SIX DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENT CYCLES TO ANALYZE AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE ON TRACK, AND THEN THEY REFLECT AND DEVELOP A CAPSTONE PROJECT AT THE END OF THEIR TIME WITH THEIR FULL TEAM.

AND SO IT IS A GREAT PROCESS TO GO BY WHICH THEY CAN REPLICATE IN FUTURE.

THEY CAN USE THIS PROCESS IN THEIR CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLANNING ETC..

THE LAST THING THAT IS HIGHLY BENEFICIAL IS THEY ARE ASSIGNED AN EXECUTIVE COACH.

SO BASED ON YOU KNOW, RESEARCH SOMEONE WHO IS TRAINED TO COACH AT A VERY HIGH LEVEL, WHO'S OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, WHO CAN GIVE THEM FEEDBACK. AND NOT ONLY THEIR PROBLEM OF PRACTICE, BUT OTHER THINGS THAT MAY COME UP WHERE THEY NEED A THIRD-PARTY WELL-TRAINED COACH TO CONTINUE THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING CAMPUS WIDE.

SO THE 6 CAMPUSES THAT WE STARTED WITH IN COHORT ONE WERE CAMPUSES THAT WE KNEW HAD INCREDIBLE STABILITY, THAT HAD ALREADY MAYBE EXPERIMENTED WITH THE IDEA BEFORE, AND THE LEADER HAD CAPACITY TO TRY SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT.

THE TEACHERS, THOUGH, THAT WERE SELECTED, WENT THROUGH AN INFORMATION SESSION, AN APPLICATION SCREENING.

THEY DID AN APPLICATION. THEY HAD A SCREENING PROCESS THAT WAS DONE WITH CENTRAL OFFICE LEADERSHIP.

THEN THEY HAD A CAMPUS LEADERSHIP INTERVIEW WITH A RUBRIC THAT FOLLOWED.

AND IN BETWEEN THERE WAS PHONE INTERVIEWS THAT TOOK PLACE. IT WAS A VERY RIGOROUS MULTIPLE WEEKS ACTUALLY, INTO A MONTH PROCESS. THEN ONCE THEY WERE, AND WE HAD A LARGE PANEL THAT APPLIED.

THEN ONCE THEY WERE SELECTED, THEY GO THROUGH ONBOARDING AND TRAINING.

SO WE KNOW THAT COHORT ONE HAD TO BE RIGHT SO THAT WE COULD BUILD AND LEARN FROM THAT AS WE MOVE INTO COHORT TWO.

WE'LL ANNOUNCE OUR APPLICATION PROCESS FOR COHORT TWO NEXT MONTH.

AND IT WILL HAVE, FOR THE CAMPUS DECISION. IT WILL HAVE A WRITTEN APPLICATION, A SCREENING PROCESS, AN INTERVIEW PROCESS, AND A RUBRIC THAT FOLLOWS.

EVERYTHING GOES IN THAT SAME PATTERN. WE FOLLOW THE SAME SIZE 16 AND 6 OR WILL THE.

THE NUMBER 6. THE NUMBER OF COHORT CAMPUSES WE'RE LOOKING AT IS 6.

MONTEREY AND CORONADO HAD ALREADY EXPERIMENTED WITH THAT.

SO THIS REALLY IS JUST CODIFYING THAT PROCESS AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.

BUT THIS IS PRIORITIZED BY THE PRINCIPALS TO FUND OUT OF THEIR TITLE FUNDS, FOR THE MOST PART.

WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A TWEAK ON THAT AT MILLER, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE AS LARGE OF A TITLE POOL, AND TEXAS TECH IS WORKING WITH US TO HELP PROVIDE SOME HIGHLY QUALIFIED STUDENT TEACHER SUPPORT TO HELP FREE UP THAT HALF TIME FOR THEIR ONE 50/50 TEACHER. AT THE TEACHER LEADERS.

WE DID SUCCESSFULLY ISSUE BEST AND FINAL OFFER LETTERS, AND HAD THOSE RESPONSES IN WHICH WE WE WERE ABLE TO REDUCE THE FEES QUITE SIGNIFICANTLY, AS I REPORTED AT THE LAST BOARD OPERATIONS MEETING.

AND WE'LL CONTINUE TO WORK ON THOSE. ON SLIDE FIVE ARE THE PROJECTIONS WE DID SEND OUT AT THE BOARD OPERATIONS DIRECTION LAST WEEK, THE 17TH, THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE BID OUT OF THE OF THE HEALTH PLAN, AS WELL AS THE PROPOSED PREMIUMS TO ALL EMPLOYEES AS, AS I MENTIONED, AS DIRECTED.

WITH THAT BEING SAID THE PREMIUM, WITH THE PREMIUM INCREASE, THE OTHER ONE HALF THAT WAS DEFERRED LAST YEAR TO BE PROPOSED FOR 2026. IT WOULD LEAVE US BASICALLY FLAT RIGHT NOW WITH PROPOSED DIRECTIONS.

THAT'S BETTER THAN LAST TIME. IT WAS CLOSE TO A MILLION LAST TIME.

SO WE'RE ENCOURAGED. WE HOPE CERTAINLY, MOSTLY THAT OUR EMPLOYEES IN THERE.

OUR FAMILY MEMBERS REMAIN HEALTHY, BUT WE WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THEM.
